A primary school-aged child was one of three people airlifted to hospital by LifeFlight rescue helicopters, following a series of motorcycle accidents, over the weekend.
The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew was sent to a Scenic Rim private property at around 2.15pm this afternoon (Sun 6th June).
A young boy had suffered a suspected broken leg, after crashing, while riding a dirt bike.
A quick-thinking man on the scene, hastily mowed the long grass, to create a safe landing space for the chopper, close to the accident scene.
The boy was airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital, in a stable condition.
The Toowoomba crew responded to the child’s accident, directly from the rooftop helipad at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where they had just completed transferring a patient, who had been injured in a motocross accident.
The man, who is aged in his twenties, had been riding at a Southern Downs track late this morning (Sun 6th June), when he was reportedly flung over the handlebars of his bike.
He also suffered a suspected broken leg.
The back to back RACQ LifeFlight Rescue missions came after the Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter airlifted an injured motorbike rider to Toowoomba Hospital on Saturday. (5th June)
