An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew winched a stranded climber from a popular mountain in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, this afternoon. (Tues 19th)
The man, who is aged in his 20s, reportedly became stuck on an extremely steep section of the mountain and decided to call for help.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) personnel used a drone to locate the man, but deemed it too dangerous to retrieve him by foot.
The Sunshine Coast-based rescue chopper was called to assist around 4pm.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot hovered the helicopter above the man, while a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic was winched down to assess him for injuries.
The climber and QAS paramedic were then hoisted back up to the chopper.
The man was uninjured and flown back to the base of the mountain.
