The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man from a beach, on the north eastern tip of K’gari (Fraser Island), after he was injured in a motor vehicle incident this morning (Sun 26th Dec).
The rescue chopper was one of two aircraft called to the island, just after 9:40am.
It’s believed the man had been standing between a four wheel drive (4WD), which was attempting to tow a bogged 4WD, when one of the vehicles rolled. The man became pinned between the two cars.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers and the Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper were all on the scene, when the Sunshine Coast aircraft arrived.
Both aeromedical crews, worked alongside local paramedics to treat the man, aged in his 50s, who had suffered pelvic injuries.
He was airlifted by the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper to the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, in a serious but stable condition.
The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was re-tasked to airlifted a person, suffering a medical condition, to Bundaberg Hospital.
