The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a man to safety, after he become lost while hiking at a popular mountain in the Scenic Rim.
The experienced hiker, who is aged in his 30s, was reportedly making his way down the mountain when he slipped down the rock face and became disoriented.
He suffered minor cuts to his lower legs, but was able to called for help using his mobile phone.
The chopper crew was tasked to search the area by Queensland Police Service (QPS), around 12.30pm.
The man made himself more easily visible to the chopper crew hovering overhead, by waving a reflective emergency blanket he had taken on the hike with him.
Due to the rugged terrain, the decision was made for the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Critical Care Flight Paramedic to be winched down to the man.
He was assessed and treated on the ground, before he and the Flight Paramedic were hoisted up to the helicopter.
The patient was then flown to the base of the mountain, where he was met by local QPS personnel.
