The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has flown a man to hospital, after he was seriously injured in a head-on crash involving a four-wheel-drive and truck, in the South Burnett.
It’s believed the patient, who is aged in his 40s, was the driver of the 4WD.
The rescue chopper was tasked to the scene of the collision just after midday.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot was able to land the aircraft on a stretch of highway near the scene, which had been closed by local Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.
The aeromedical crew and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics treated the driver for extensive upper body injuries.
The man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in a serious condition.
