The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has this morning, responded to its sixth boating-related mission, in three weeks.
The crew was called to assist a boat in distress, off the coast of Bundaberg, just after 9am by Queensland Police Service (QPS).
It’s believed the six metre vessel was taking on water.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew spotted the boat, about 60 nautical miles off the coast.
The crew of a nearby yacht was escorting and watching over the leaking vessel, as those aboard were bailing out water.
Once it was determined the boat was not at risk of sinking, the rescue chopper remained on scene, until Bundaberg’s Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) arrived and could lead the boat back to safety.
