An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a man to safety, in a multi-agency rescue effort, after he fell at a Scenic Rim mountain.
It’s believed the man fell around 7 o’clock this morning (Monday, 27th June) and sustained multiple injuries, including to his leg.
The man fortunately had phone reception and was able to call family, to raise the alarm.
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene around midday.
A Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service Queensland crew had initially been called in and had located the man, in difficult to access forest, about three-quarters of the way up the mountain.
They were able to help guide the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew to his location, so the aeromedical team could treat him.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic were both winched down to the man, who is aged in his 20s.
They treated him and secured him onto a stretcher.
The aircrew then hoisted the patient and medical team back up to the aircraft.
The man was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, for further medical treatment.
