Two LifeFlight choppers respond to serious two vehicle crash

Brisbane’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew and the Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew, have each airlifted a seriously injured patient to hospital, from the scene of a two-vehicle crash this afternoon.

It’s believed the cars collided on a stretch of highway in the Toowoomba region, reportedly injuring multiple people.

The rescue choppers were tasked to the scene of the crash at approximately 1:30pm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue and LifeFlight SGAS pilots landed their aircraft on the highway, which had been closed by local Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.

The aeromedical crews joined local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Fire and Emergency (QFES) personnel and QPS officers at the scene, where a man and a woman were trapped in the wreckage of the crash.

Both patients were treated for multiple injuries.

The woman, who is aged in her 30s, was flown in the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter to the Toowoomba Hospital in a serious condition.

The Brisbane RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew airlifted the male patient, who was in a serious condition with suspected chest and abdominal injuries, to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
