Seriously injured driver airlifted after rollover

The Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a male driver to hospital after a single vehicle rollover in the Southern Downs.

The rescue chopper flew to the scene shortly after 7:30am (Sunday 7th August), and the pilot was able to land on the road next to the scene of the accident.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel had already assisted the sole occupant from the vehicle.

Once the aeromedical team arrived, they joined local QAS paramedics in treating the patient for head, chest and abdominal injuries.

It’s believed a passing motorist had raised the alarm after noticing the vehicle on the side of the road.

The male, who is aged in his fifties, was stabilised and flown to the Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
