The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a woman to hospital, after the car she was driving rolled, causing her to become trapped in the vehicle.
It’s believed the driver, who is aged in her 60s, suffered spinal injuries as a result of the crash.
The rescue chopper was tasked to the scene of the single-vehicle rollover in the Gympie region, shortly before 3:30pm (Sunday, 13th November).
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot landed near the crash site.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) personnel had to stablise the car, which had landed on it’s side, using specialist equipment, before working to free the patient from the wreckage.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical crew and local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics worked to treat the patient for her injuries.
Once the driver was freed from her car, she was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
