Chopper airlifts injured driver from gravel road rollover

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a woman to hospital, after she was freed from her vehicle, which rolled on a gravel road.

The Sunshine Coast-based rescue chopper was deployed to the scene around 11.45am. (Sunday 20th)

The pilot was able to land the aircraft a short distance from the incident, where local Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crew and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were working to remove the driver from her car.

It’s believed she had been driving on the gravel road which runs through a forestry area south-west of Blackbutt, when she lost control of the vehicle, which ultimately landed on its side.

Her passenger and two dogs were reportedly not injured in the incident.

The woman, who is aged in her fifties, was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with suspected hand and arm injuries, under the care of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.
