The Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter has airlifted a woman after a serious horse fall, north-east of Roma.
The rescue chopper was called into action around 10.30 this morning.
It’s believed the woman, aged in her 20s, had been horse riding in a paddock with others when she reportedly fell, dislocating her left shoulder.
The LifeFlight SGAS pilot flew to the scene and landed on a dirt road nearby.
The RACQ LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service Flight Paramedic joined local QAS paramedics and a local medic in treating the patient.
The aeromedical team was able to put the woman’s shoulder back into place, and she was airlifted in a stable condition.
The woman was flown to Roma Airport, before being transported via QAS road ambulance, to Roma Hospital.
Tasked by Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
With aircraft based in Roma and Toowoomba, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter service is fully funded by the four SGAS partners.
