The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has flown a driver to hospital, after a serious collision between a small car and a semi-trailer, on the highway south of Maryborough.
It’s understood the woman aged in her 20s was the driver and sole occupant of the car.
The woman was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics.
The rescue helicopter was called into action just before 8.30 this morning and the pilot landed in a paddock near the scene.
The woman was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition, suffering a head injury.
