The Mount Isa-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a driver to hospital, after she was injured in a single vehicle rollover east of Camooweal, this afternoon.
The overseas tourist, along with a male passenger, was travelling on a highway when she was reportedly forced to swerve to avoid hitting debris on the road.
Her vehicle rolled and landed on the side of the roadway.
The rescue helicopter was called into action just before 1pm. (Sun 16th July)
Queensland Police Service officers had closed the highway, creating a safe landing zone for the helicopter pilot.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were on scene, treating the pair from the crashed car.
The woman, who is aged in her twenties, suffered a broken arm and was flown to Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.
It was the second highway crash the Mount Isa RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has attended this weekend.
Yesterday (Sat 15th July) the chopper crew airlifted three patients, including a primary school-aged child, to hospital after a collision with a truck caused the ute they were travelling in, to veer off the road and hit a tree.
Two women and the young boy were flown from accident site in the Cloncurry region, to Mount Isa Hospital.
