Two motorbike riders airlifted in less than 24 hours

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted two motorbike riders, from separate accidents to hospital in less than 24 hours.

The most recent accident occurred this morning (24th Dec), when a male teenager lost control of the motorbike he was riding and smashed into a power pole on the side of the road.

The rescue helicopter crew flew to the scene, in the Somerset region, shortly before 11am, where the pilot was able to land in a paddock close to where the incident had occurred.

The aeromedical team treated the teen alongside local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics for multiple injuries.

The patient was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Yesterday evening (23rd Dec), the rescue helicopter crew flew to a private property in the Sunshine Coast hinterland after two motorbike riders had collided head on.

The pilot landed at the property shortly after 5pm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic along with other QAS paramedics worked to stabilise the male rider.

He was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
