The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a man from a trawler this morning (Sun 18th Feb).
The aeromedical chopper was called into action at 11:20am, tasked to meet with the vessel, which was in the Coral Sea just east of K’gari (Fraser Island).
The patient was suffering chest pains and required immediate medical assistance.
The Rescue Crew Officer (RCO) was winched down onto the back deck of the trawler.
The patient was prepared in a patient harness, then lifted from the vessel into the rescue chopper.
The man aged in his 20s, was treated in the chopper by the RACQ LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic before being flown to Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.
