The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew performed three back-to-back missions today, including two involving injured horse riders in the Toowoomba region.
The rescue chopper was first called into action around 8:30am (Saturday, 2nd March).
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot landed the aircraft near the scene of the incident, where the aeromedical crew met with local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patient.
It’s believed the woman was riding with her husband when she fell from her horse, which then rolled on top of her.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was treated for chest, arm and leg injuries, before being flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
The rescue chopper crew then completed an unrelated hospital patient transfer before being called to respond to another horse-riding incident.
That accident also involved a teenage woman who had fallen from her animal and suffered multiple injuries.
The rescue helicopter flew to the private property just before 4:30pm, where the pilot was able to land near the scene.
The RACQ LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor along with the QAS Flight Paramedic joined local QAS paramedics to treat the teenager who suffered hip, shoulder and back injuries.
She was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
