Sunshine Coast LifeFlight airlifts boy after swimming incident

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a boy who was injured while swimming off an island in the Moreton Bay Region.

The teenager was swimming at the beach when he landed on a stick under the water, which caused a stomach laceration.

The aeromedical team was tasked to the scene at around 11am, where they worked with Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics to treat the patient.

The boy was accompanied by a family member when airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
