The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew today airlifted a woman to hospital after a two-vehicle crash in the Lockyer Valley region.
The rescue chopper was tasked at 1.30pm and landed on a stretch of highway near the incident scene.
The road was closed off by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.
The LifeFlight medical crew worked with local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patient on scene for chest injuries.
The woman, aged in her 70s, was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital for further treatment.
The airlift marks the first primary mission for LifeFlight’s newest AW139 helicopter, which joined the fleet at Toowoomba’s base yesterday morning (Dec 19).
