Chopper airlifts man after quad bike rollover

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital, after the quad bike he was riding rolled over.

The aeromedical team was called to a private property in the Toowoomba region around 5.15pm (Sunday 8 October).

The pilot safely landed the helicopter in a paddock near the incident, just before sunset.

Local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics treated the patient before transferring him into the care of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.

The patient, aged in his 50s, sustained chest injuries and was flown to Toowoomba Hospital for further treatment.

Tasked by Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
