The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has flown a holidayer to hospital, after he was bitten on his leg by a snake, while flying a drone on K’gari (Fraser Island).
The rescue helicopter flew to the eastern side of the island shortly after 7am this morning (Sat 21st Jan), landing near the beach.
It’s believed the man, aged in his 20s, had been flying a drone and had walked towards the drone to pick it up, when the snake bit him on the leg.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic treated the man on scene before he was airlifted to the Hervey Bay Hospital for further medical attention.
It’s believed the man had no envenomation symptoms.
The species of snake is unknown.
