Injured dirt bike rider airlifted to hospital

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was injured while riding at a dirt bike track, this afternoon.

It’s believed the man, aged in his 30s, came off his motorbike, after riding over a jump.

The aeromedical crew was called to the scene, in the South Burnett, around 1pm (Friday 30th December).

The medical team worked with local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the man for upper arm injuries.

He was then flown to Toowoomba Hospital, in a stable condition.

Tasked by Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.

With aircraft based in Roma and Toowoomba, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter service is fully funded by the four SGAS partners.
