The Toowoomba LifeFlight SGAS and the Queensland Government (QGAir) helicopters both landed close to the crash site, on the road which had been cleared by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers to create a safe landing zone.

Members of the LifeFlight medical team immediately joined Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics in treating patients who had been injured in the collision, including a woman who was still trapped in the wreckage.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) officers freed the female patient and she was transferred to the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter.

The woman, who is aged in her twenties, suffered multiple traumatic injuries.

She was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital under the care of the LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor and Flight Paramedic.

A second patient was reportedly airlifted to another hospital, by QGAir, while other patients were transported by ambulance.
