LifeFlight airlifts men after two truck rollovers

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew attended back-to-back truck rollovers today.

In the first incident, LifeFlight was tasked at 7.50am to the Tuan Forest after a logging truck crashed into a ditch.

The helicopter landed on the road and was met by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Fire Department (QFD) firefighters and the Queensland Police Service, which had closed off the road.

QAS paramedics worked with the LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic to treat a male in his 50s for head injuries.

He was transported in a stable condition to Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.

Three hours later the crew was tasked to a stretch of highway in Monduran after a car carrier rolled onto its side and crashed into trees.

QFD firefighters worked for two hours to cut away trees and extricate a male in his 20s from the vehicle.

He was treated on scene by QAS paramedics, the LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic for head and facial injuries.

The patient was taken to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight helicopter and crew service the Wide Bay-Burnett region and beyond.
