Man airlifted by LifeFlight after falling from horse while chasing steer

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital this afternoon after he fell from his horse in the Maranoa Region.

The aeromedical crew was tasked at around 4.30pm after the rider fell while galloping after a steer.

The man, aged in his 20s, was thrown from the horse and landed on the ground in front of the animal before being trampled.

The RACQ LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor joined local QAS paramedics to treat the man, who was knocked unconscious.

He was airlifted to Roma Hospital in a stable condition.

It is the third horse fall patient airlifted by LifeFlight Rescue crews in as many days, after two women were airlifted in the Toowoomba Region on Saturday.

Tasked by Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
