Motorcyclist airlifted after being thrown from bike and landing near cliff edge

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown an injured man to hospital after he crashed his motorbike, earlier today.

It’s believed the man was riding along a road, in the Southern Downs region, when he lost control and crashed into a guard rail.

The impact of the crash, threw the man from his bike, where he then landed on the edge of a cliff, centimetres from a 10 metre fall.

The rescue chopper was sent to the region shortly before 11am (19th September), where the pilot was able to land the aircraft at a showgrounds nearby.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) treated the man at the scene, then drove him to the waiting rescue chopper.

The man, aged in his thirties, had suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It’s the second motorbike accident RACQ LifeFlight Rescue has been sent to in past 24 hours.

Last night, the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper retrieved a teenager from the South Burnett region.

The man had sustained multiple injuries after crashing his motorbike.

He was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
