The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a motorcyclist after he collided with a wallaby, while riding along a road, northwest of Bundaberg, earlier today.
The rescue chopper flew to the scene at 8:45am (Sunday 31st May), where the pilot was able to land in a paddock nearby.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) workers were at the scene, when the rescue helicopter arrived.
The QAS Flight Paramedic along with local QAS paramedics, treated the man, aged in forties, for multiple injuries.
He was stabilised and then airlifted to the Bundaberg Base Hospital in a serious condition.
It’s the second primary tasking for the Bundaberg aeromedical crew, so far this weekend.
Yesterday, the chopper was sent to a mountain in the North Burnett, where the aeromedical team winched an injured hiker to safety.
The woman, aged in her thirties, suffered a leg injury and was flown in a stable condition to Bundaberg Airport.
Upon arrival, she was transported by QAS to Bundaberg Base Hospital.
