RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts man after car flips in bushland

The Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew airlifted a man to hospital after the car he was travelling in slammed into a tree, flipped and landed vertically against a tree trunk.

The rescue aircraft was called to the incident which happened on a highway in the Toowoomba region just before midday today.

It is believed the car had left the road and travelled through 50 metres of bushland before hitting a tree.

The rescue helicopter was called to the incident in the Gympie region around 1pm today.

The pilot landed the aircraft in a nearby paddock.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics carried the patient, aged in his 50s, to the chopper.

He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The pilot landed the chopper at a nearby field, where the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor treated the patient, who had been transported from the scene by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was in a serious but stable condition with chest and abdominal injuries.

She was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment.

A passenger from the same car was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital by the QGAir helicopter.
