The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown a man to hospital, after he was injured in a 4WD rollover, on a beach in the Gympie region.
Shortly before 6:30pm (Saturday 30th Oct), the rescue chopper flew to Teewah Beach, after reports a vehicle had rolled several times.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) firefighters and Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers were in attendance, when the rescue helicopter arrived.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot was able to land the aircraft close to the scene of the accident.
It’s believed the driver and passenger had been able to free themselves from the crashed vehicle, however the driver reportedly fell unconscious a short time later.
Two off duty Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were first on scene and administered first aid, before other QAS paramedics and the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical crew arrived.
The male driver, aged in his 20s, was treated for multiple upper body injuries, before being flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition.
