The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew has winched a man from a cliff edge, after he fell while rock climbing, this afternoon (Monday 2nd May).
The man, aged in his thirties, was climbing in the Gympie region with friends when he lost his footing and dropped more than five metres.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) personnel were the first to arrive at the scene, treating and assisting the patient, but could not retrieve him due to the difficult terrain.
The rescue chopper was tasked just before 3pm to the popular cliff climbing location.
A QAS Flight paramedic was lowered to the ground to prepare the patient, before he was winched into the helicopter on a stretcher.
The Flight paramedic was then hoisted back into the aircraft.
The patient was in a stable condition and was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further assessment.
