RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical crews have airlifted three motorbike riders to hospital, from separate incidents, in the past 24 hours.
The Sunshine Coast-based crew, took off at 10am today (Sunday 18th April), and headed west of Tin Can Bay for a teenage trail bike rider, who had lost control of his machine and crashed in a forest, while riding with friends.
It’s believed his friends alerted emergency services and the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) met them with a 4WD Ambulance, where the crash occurred.
QAS treated him, before driving a short distance to rendezvous with the rescue helicopter, where the aeromedical team assisted the patient.
He had suffered injuries to his head and abdomen and was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Only minutes later, The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to a motorbike incident in the Southern Downs.
It’s been reported that a man had been riding on a race track, when his motorbike slid out from underneath him, and crashed.
An onsite medical team were first on the scene, before QAS arrived to treat him.
Once on scene, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS flight paramedic accessed the patient and treated him for multiple injuries.
He was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in a critical but stable condition.
He was the third motorbike accident patient to be flown to hospital by RACQ LifeFlight Rescue, this weekend.
Yesterday (April 17th), the Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter flew a trail bike rider to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, after a serious crash on the Sunshine Coast.
It’s believed the man, who is aged in his fifties, had been riding on a dirt road, when he lost control of his bike and crashed.
He suffered serious head and shoulder injuries.
