The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has assisted in the rescue of two women who had been lost in the bush for two nights, south east of Nanango.
The mother and daughter had been missing since Friday afternoon (23rd June), after the pair left to go prospecting.
A multi agency search commenced Friday evening, and continued on Saturday with Toowoomba’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter searching for over two hours.
The Queensland Police Service (QPS), State Emergency Service (SES) and local volunteers all took part in searching for the missing women.
This morning, a local who was helping in the search heard one of the women yelling for help.
He alerted authorities and managed to find the missing pair sheltering in a tower about four metres tall, which is used for observing deer.
They had used this shelter to protect themselves as much as they could for the two nights.
The women had even spelt out an SOS sign with post it notes, hoping someone would see it.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper was tasked to the scene just after 9am this morning, landing close to where the women were found.
The RACQ Critical Care Doctor and the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic then assessed the women for any injuries or medical issues.
Both patients, aged in their 50s and 30s, were suffering from dehydration, and were also tired and sore from their ordeal.
They were airlifted to the Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition for observation.
